6 ideas to help employees wind down on Friday afternoons

When employees are overworked, it’s impossible for them to reach their full potential. Nearly 70% of employees feel as though there aren’t enough hours in the week to get their work done. So, we all deserve a rest every now and again to maintain a good work-life balance, especially on a Friday. Having a fun company culture helps to engage employees make them much more productive, as they are more willing to show up to work and enthusiastic about day to day tasks.

Here are some ways to make Fridays more fun in the office;

  1. Office Happy Hour

Drinks for everyone? Sounds good. If you offer going out to a bar for happy you run the risk of people not turning up to work. However, having a happy hour in the office is enticing for employees on a Friday.

2. Takeaway Time

All get a takeaway together as a treat for all the hard work. Have a vote on what type of takeaway everyone wants e.g. Pizza, Chinese, or Fast Food. Then, let the feast commence.

Example: TWITTER OFFICE

Weather permitting, let your employees have a game of something outside. This helps promote team work in a relaxed environment as well as the outdoors helping your employees to relieve stress.

4. Learning Together/team meeting

Get all your employees together to do research together or have a weekly meeting about the week’s events. Don’t forget that opportunities for growth are what millennials are looking for at work.

5. Video games

Dust off the old gaming consoles and seek out a room in the office you can dedicate to an Xbox or Nintendo Wii. This lets people wind down from the week’s tasks and employees bond over something other than work.
